If this porutham is available the couple will enjoy a Long and Healthy married life. Hence this is considered important/mandatory.

There are3 types of Ganam. Each Ganam is assigned 9 Stars.

1. Deva Ganam :
These persons are supposed to be well behaved, Affectionate, Soft and Good natured with good Character and High values.
2. Manusha Ganam
Men and Women of this category will have all the good and bad qualities of human beings. Their behaviour is good but they also tend to show their anger, enmity at times.
3.Rakshasa Ganam.

This Porutham gives an idea about the Life Expectancy of the Girl. Also this helps for a comfortable married life.

Chandran's house in Rasi Chart is RASI. while counting from Girl's Rasi if  Boy's Rasi is  2 - 3- 4 - 5 - 6 - or 8, Rasi Porutham is not available. 6&8 are known as 'Sashtashtakam' which will lead to Difference of opinion and fights between the couple. 1st and 7th, Rasi are good. 9 - 10 - 11 & 12 are Ok.
7. RASI ADHIPATHI -
Each house in the RASI chart is ruled by one of the Navagrahas (Planet).. Some planets have two places. The planet ruling  the  house of the Birth Star is 'RASI ADHIPATHI'. For example say a girl's  Birth Star is ASWINI. Her Rasi is Mesham. Mesha Rasi Adhipathi is Chevvai. Now Boy's Star is SWATHI, his Rasi is Thulam. Thula Rasi Adhipathi is Sukran. The relationship between Chevvai and Sukran is Equal Status. This is Madhyamam - neither Very Good nor Bad. Acceptable.
Rasi Adhipathi Porutham depends on the Relationship of the two planets ruling the house where Chandran is found in Rasi Chart.
